Information Regarding Online Learning Options for Students
As you would be aware there is a lot of discussion in our media about the possibility for the need to transition learning to home due to school closures as a result of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). At this stage our school will remain open until we are notified otherwise.
So that we are prepared in the event that we are required to close early or for a period of time we are providing you with further information about how to assist your children’s learning at home if required. We are very conscious of making this manageable for you at home during this unprecedented time.
DAILY TASKS:
So that we are prepared in the event that we are required to close early or for a period of time we are providing you with further information about how to assist your children’s learning at home if required. We are very conscious of making this manageable for you at home during this unprecedented time.
DAILY TASKS:
- Continued Home Reading is extremely important for all members of our school. Please continue to complete you child’s diary each day and talk to them about what they are reading as often as you can.
- Practice counting with your children. Students in the Yole and McGowan Tribes should practice counting up to 100. Students in the Bartok Tribe should practice skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s past 200 and students in the McNeight, Prentice and Smith/Buscombe Tribes should continue to learn their times tables facts.
- Listed below are some free apps that you can get from the app store to assist with this: The Multiplication Tables Challenge, My Times Tables and Times Tables Game
- Writing practice is also important especially for students from Foundation to Grade 2. Students in the Yole, McGowan and Bartok Tribe could practice their name and letters of the alphabet daily which will continue to reinforce the skills that they have been learning in class. Students in Grades 3 to 6 could practice writing narrative stories and have family members read them focusing on giving them positive feedback.
To support our students transition to learning from home, if necessary, each student has been given a copy of their login information for use at home. Our students will be familiar with most of these programs as we currently use them at school.
