The Wendouree Primary School Performing Arts Program includes an amazing Showcase performance held in September each year. The Showcase is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience music, dance and stage production values. We regularly receive a great deal of positive feedback from parents and members of our local community after each show!
One of our most successful fundraisers each year is our annual school fete which runs in term 4. Each Tribe works tirelessly to prepare a stall for the fete, with all proceeds going towards funding our Lexile Reading Program. Past stalls have included: Lucky Dips, Popcorn, Paella, Christmas Craft, Showbags, Crazy Hair Spay, Slushies and much more. We also have a variety of community run stalls selling a variety of products.
We are very proud to offer students the opportunity to join in our Shane Dorney Breakfast Club. Breakfast club is organised by members of our parent community and is run each Wednesday and Friday morning starting at 8:30am. This program has been entirely funded by the Shane Dorney foundation and we are very lucky to have both the resources and facilities to house this club at Wendouree Primary School.
In Term 4 of each year students and teachers work together to prepare for our annual Art Show. Hosted in our Judith Pinder Centre, our exhibition provides students an opportunity to display their fantastic art work. Parents, friends and members of the community are all welcome to come and view all exhibits on show.
One of our most exciting annual events is the Twilight Sports Carnival, held in first term of each year. Students are encouraged to come dressed in the colours of their sporting house; Williams, Clarke and Henderson.
Students participate in a range of competitive track and field activities, with all placings earning points for their respective sporting house. Each year a trophy is presented to the house with the most points earned during the evening. Families are encouraged to join in the fun atmosphere with a picnic rug and our sausage sizzle.
Each morning as students arrive to school, classrooms are opened to allow for our morning reading program. This begins at 8:50am and provides a quiet and structured time for students to continue reading their take home readers. Parents are encouraged to join their child during this time and our teachers use this time to hear individual readers.
